Description

Do you want to contribute to a larger purpose to save the lives of infants in the NICU? This is Prolacta Bioscience’s mission! Take a look at this opportunity with our Product Innovation team, which is seeking a passionate individual, to fill the role of our Scientist- Host Microbe Interactions.

This position will be part of a new center in the Boston area, developing products at the intersection of microbiome-based product development and Prolacta’s unique capabilities in human milk-based nutritional products. In collaboration with CROs, Prolacta R&D, clinical and CMC teams, and academic collaborators, this individual will support the development of datasets to enable new products and support extensions of existing product lines.

How you will contribute

This role will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our organization and develop your professional skills by…

  • Managing CROs responsible for microbiome animal model development and host cell biology studies
  • Performing wet lab work as needed to support microbiological and host cell biology readouts and endpoints associated with animal studies and in vitro host biology studies
  • In collaboration with team members, developing experimental datasets to support product development, regulatory filings, and product claims.

Requirements

What you bring to the role

Requirements:

  • Minimum Ph.D. degree in microbiology, cell biology, infectious disease, or DVM with infectious disease experience
  • 0-3 years post doctorate experience in inflammatory and/or infectious diseases
  • Experience with tools for studying host-microbe interactions in animal and cell culture models
  • Experience with assays probing mucosal immunology and host inflammatory status
  • Experience with methods for isolating and culturing primary and immortalized host cells
  • Experience adapting existing animal and cell-based models and developing new models



Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with genetic and induced models of immune perturbation and inflammation
  • Familiarity with pathogen detection and characterization techniques
  • Familiarity with methods for immunohistochemistry, cytokine detection, gene expression, and immunophenotyping
  • Strong oral communicator with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members and CROs to meet experimental deadlines
  • Effective and adaptable writer able to collaborate with team members to meet deadlines
  • Attentive to detail, analytical, and process-driven
  • Ability to operate in a complex or matrixed work environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively
