  • We are currently hiring for 2 MSL positions - one for East US and one for West US as the first individual contributor team hires.
  • Location Preference: Live in a metropolitan area in the United States near a major airport. We are currently unable to hire in California.

Mersana has an opportunity for you to introduce Mersana and our innovative science to Healthcare Providers (HCPs) in the United States as our new Medical Science Liaison. This role will allow you to help define and refine Mersana’s Medical Affairs strategy and pave the way for future field medical expansion. By doing so, you will have a strong impact upon Mersana’s future and helping us achieve our vision of a world where all patients triumph over cancer. This position reports to the Field Medical Lead.

What’s in it for you?

In this role as an individual contributor, you will start by fulfilling Medical Science Liaison roles and responsibilities prior to regulatory approval of the company’s first product. Your contributions will have a strong impact upon Mersana’s success, by ensuring that key external stakeholders both know who Mersana is and understand the science we are employing to positively impact the lives of patients with ovarian cancer and other solid tumors.

Your MSL responsibilities will include:

  • Represent Mersana as a scientific ambassador, responsible and accountable for disease state and new biomarker education.
  • Develop Mersana KOL advocates across your territory who can help build awareness of Mersana’s technology, platforms, biomarkers, and data.
  • Influence Medical Affairs strategy by providing insights from your past experience and new interactions with HCPs.
  • Represent Mersana at medical congresses by providing scientific session/abstract coverage, booth staffing coverage, routine HCP interactions, and contributing to congress initiative summaries.
  • Plan and execute advisory boards and act as moderator when needed.
  • Engage in speaker identification, training, and evaluation.
  • Support Mersana’s clinical teams as needed by suggesting sites for clinical trials, presenting at SIV meetings, maintaining a strong relationship with study PIs, and providing education to sites when appropriate.
  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues in clinical, sales, commercial, regulatory, and market access.

This position reports to one of the two Senior MSL Regional Leads.

How do you know if you’re the right fit?

Your experience will include:

  • An oncology background, preferentially in gynecological cancers.
  • A strong interest in developing peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs, scientists and other healthcare professionals.
  • The ability to think strategically and collaborate effectively.
  • A passion for drug development, strategy, research, HCP engagement, and tactical execution.
  • Enthusiasm for bringing life changing treatments to market, from product launches through lifecycle management and pipeline support.
  • A drive to continuously foster strong collaborations between field medical and sales.
  • Successfully developing and implementing compliant Advisory Boards.
  • Creating and conducting Plan of Action meetings.
  • Supporting the Investigator Sponsored Research program by engaging with PIs interested in submitting research ideas and presenting their proposals for internal review

The other stuff

Typically, this is role is best suited for PharmDs, PhDs, or MDs who possess 3-5 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience, plus:

  • At least 3-5 years working as a MSL in the oncology arena, preferably in gynecological cancers and at a senior MSL level.
  • Experience working with Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs), which is desired, but not required.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
