The Role:
The Therapeutic Research team is seeking a self-motivated Associate Director of Immunology to lead a team conducting cutting edge preclinical research to drive forward therapeutic programs at Generate:Biomedicines. The successful candidate will be our leader on immunogenicity of our pipeline protein therapeutics, thoughtfully integrating deep immunology understanding, our platform, and experience in drug development. We are searching for a collaborative and independent individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The role requires staying abreast of emerging trends and advancements in immunology/immunogenicity, contributing to our company’s shared scientific knowledge through presentations, and fostering collaboration across research teams. The candidate should have a sustained record of being a strategic thinker and thoughtful people leader who can successfully lead programs into the clinic.
Here's how you will contribute:
- Lead a team focused on employing our platform technology to build new protein-based therapeutics for auto-immune and inflammatory disease.
- Be an internal and external expert on immunogenicity and its implications in the development of protein therapeutics.
- Lead internal and partnered programs.
- Provide scientific and strategic leadership to the immunology group as well as across other therapeutic areas and functional groups.
- Maintain expertise through in-depth knowledge of scientific literature and attendance/participation at conferences.
- Thoughtfully balance business deliverables, scientific opportunities, and team resources to create and sustain a productive and high functioning team.
- Assist in creating a strong inventive and inclusive culture with a clear sense of urgency for providing transformational therapies to patients
Requirements
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- PhD/9+ years of experience in immunology or related scientific discipline and in-depth experience in an industry setting.
- Strong track record in the discovery and development of new protein-based therapies including leading project teams through IND phase and a solid understanding of immunogenicity and its importance in developing protein therapeutics.
- Ability to set strategy and lead through planning, designing, and executing multiple complex research projects that support corporate scientific goals and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, direct and indirect, and build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align strategies and drive successful outcomes.
- A strong leader with organizational and personal savvy, and a highly collaborative mindset
- Demonstrated excellence in a wide array of scientific techniques and methodologies
