The Sr. Manager, Clinical Contracts manages clinical site agreements and provides legal contracts support to the Global Clinical Development and Medical Affairs groups, including outsourcing, clinical operations, quality assurance, data management, regulatory and other associated business units. The position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating substantial changes within contracts with clinical trial sites and external vendors through to fully executing the contracts. This role works closely with the Senior Director, Corporate Counsel, Clinical Development and Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Transactions on various projects and works cross-departmentally with the Contracts group within the broader Legal department to partner and collaborate on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating general corporate contracts.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Draft, negotiate, execute, and manage a high-volume of specialized agreements, such as Service Agreements, Research Agreements, Clinical Site Agreements, Consulting Agreements, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreements, Scopes of Work, Licensing Agreements, and other contracts necessary to support the clinical development lifecycle.
  • Support the general contracts function within the Sarepta legal department on contract drafting, review, and negotiating as needed; examples include but are not limited to supporting general corporate contracts and pre-clinical contracts, etc.
  • Evaluate and interpret contractual clauses in support of cross-functional stakeholders regarding obligations and risk, as well as present practical solutions.
  • Assist in developing and communicating policies, procedures, systems, as well as best practices, including developing a library of clinical contract form templates, to support and facilitate efficient contract development and analyses.
  • Anticipate problems and initiate actions to ensure contractual issues are addressed efficiently.
  • Additional related responsibilities as needed.

Desired Education and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus paralegal certificate required, J.D. from an ABA accredited law school a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience within life sciences industry and significant experience negotiating clinical site agreements with medical research centers; minimum 5 years of experience required for candidates with advanced degree.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communications skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal interaction skills, including emotional intelligence and maturity combined with a team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing and adjusting competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with professionalism.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to accept new responsibilities, as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and seasoned judgment as related to escalating for senior level support.
