Position Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for properly maintaining the financial books and records of the company and financial reporting. Reporting to the Sr. Director / VP, Accounting, and interacting regularly with senior level operating management, this hands-on position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. With a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure, as well as a strong working knowledge of GAAP, the Sr. Manager, Accounting addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and support of budget and forecast activities. Manage internal and external reporting, SEC Reporting and technical accounting matters. This position will provide support to the Sr. Director / VP, Accounting to effectively manage the company financial operations, and therefore, must have a strong sense of self-motivation and the ability to work independently and with confidence. The Sr Manager, Accounting will assist in preparing statements that flow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of a Sr. Director / VP, Accounting. The Senior Manager, Accounting develops and applies the Company’s accounting policies and makes sound judgments relating to expense accruals, prepaid and fixed assets capitalization. Additionally, participates in process improvement projects and assists with ad hoc projects. The Senior Manager, Accounting effectively leads the assigned team to meet expected goals, while mentoring team members to support skill-development and growth.


  • Oversee the monthly close processes to deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting that is in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Participate in budget and forecasting activities
  • Work with the Sr. Director / VP, Accounting to ensure a clean and timely year end audit
  • Review and approve vendor bills and vendor payments
  • Manage and process payroll
  • Audit employee expense reports for compliance with the Company’s T&E policy
  • Respond to inquiries and handle other assignments from the Chief Financial Officer and Sr. Director /VP, Accounting
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department while maintaining accuracy
  • Assist in system implementations, including ERP, and other ad hoc project initiatives
  • Assist with the daily banking requirements, as needed
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
  • Lead the evaluation and compliance activities for new accounting pronouncements by identifying and implementing new internal controls and procedures around new pronouncements to ensure compliance, writing memos, as well as educating accounting team and senior leadership of the implications of new accounting pronouncements
  • Anticipate and analyze technical accounting matters that arise as the result of the Company’s growth such as revenue recognition
  • Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of external financial statements and disclosures including the Company's filing of various SEC documents as required and other ad hoc filings
  • Interface with the company’s external auditors and prepare required reports, documentation and supporting schedules for quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Work with the Controller and Internal Audit in designing, implementing and administering internal controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Act requirements
  • Assists with the annual budget and reforecasting processes, including operational and capital planning, and introducing or enforcing necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan
  • Reviews and potentially negotiates agreements and contracts with key vendors and consultants in collaboration with internal parties
  • Review SEC reports, tie out documents, and review XBRL tagging;
  • Administer the Company’s equity program (stock options and ESPP)
  • Coordinate with outside tax firm annual tax files
  • Special projects as necessary



  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • 5–7 years relevant experience in financial reporting/general ledger accounting. Experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotech firm preferred.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Excel, and Word. Experience with Concur, E-Trade/EEO, QuickBooks or other large, automated accounting system a plus.
